Punting Baron originated in 2011 over a dinner with family and friends at O’Connell’s Hotel in South Melbourne. A couple of beers and wines later, a light bulb moment occurred. It was decided to combine Shane’s in depth knowledge and passion of horse racing & wagering and Adam’s business prowess to create a Punting Baron website. The very next day Adam had a business plan drawn up and the wheels were in motion.
From a very young age, Shane had a lot of love and passion with his Grandfather working for a bookmaker and his Dad a keen punter, it was in his blood from an early age. At the age of nine Shane’s Dad offered to put a $1 Caulfield/Melbourne Cup double on for him in early September 1994. Shane promptly told his Dad to put the $1 on Paris Lane to win the Caulfield Cup into Jeune to win the Melbourne Cup. Once that came through, the rest was history.
Since then Shane’s love for the sport has continued to grow and with a writing education has now combined these two passions to provide all the form analysis for Punting Baron and share his thoughts with punters hoping that this in depth knowledge can provide subscribers with a winning edge on the punt.

Not to mention Go Hawks!
Aside from being Shane’s partner in crime, you will often find Adam at most trackside meetings cheering winners and fretting losers. Adam lives and breathes digital and manages the online business. Backed with a number of study accolades – he’s a self-confessed geek and loves it. Adam spends his time with his family and is one chuffed father who enjoys spamming social media with baby photos. Also a tragic Collingwood supporter who has his teeth intact.
